Canada Funds New Aid Initiatives for Pakistan Flood Victims
Canada has approved 11 million Canadian dollars ($10.9 million) to finance eight new projects designed to provide lifesaving aid, including food, safe drinking water and shelter, to those affected by flooding in southern Pakistan.
The flood has affected around 5.4 million people, primarily in Sindh and Balochistan provinces. Of these, 1.8 million have been displaced.
The funding will be provided by the Canadian International Development Agency to support initiatives of the World Food Program, World Health Organization, the International Organization for Migration, UNICEF, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and Canadian non-governmental organizations.
